The Roads Committee section in the forum has been updated Meeting minutes, and ‘works in progress’ documents have posted there. Members who have not yet registered with the forum are advised to do so! A number of members have commented on the difficulty of using the website in it’s current format. When the website was revamped initially, approximately 9 months ago, we were not sure as to which would be the best route to go down, the wordpress ‘blog’ type arrangement (this page, which you get when you come to the site) or the phpBB forum arrangement (for which there is a link at the top of the right hand menu.) We put both on initially and, being that they do not use a common database, they do require separate a separate login. We also have the issue of having certain documents that should only be made available to members which initially required a password protected folder to themselves. Obviously this added to the complications. Having had some (much appreciated) feed back from members, I feel that the versatility of the forum part is more suited to our needs. Areas on the forum are more easily configured for ‘permissions’ allowing public viewing of some areas while others can only be accessed by registered users, and even registered users (like committee or board members) can be granted additional privileges for posting documents etc. My thoughts for the long term are to perhaps do away with the wordpress part completely and create a static, public, site for the front page and concentrate the member only postings and documents to the forum. This should in a stroke solve the majority of confusion and problems. (though individual who have only registered with the blog part will need to re-register for the forum) If any members have thoughts or ideas on this plan, including any additional features you would like to see please let me know by either: Email to: webmaster Post a comment to this blog entry or Post a topic on the forum in the ‘Website and Forum Help’ category.
